Hang Glide Chicago offers several Powered Para Gliders to train with. We will get you in the air and train you in one of our Powered Paragliders which you can purchase or order a new unit from one of the many quality manufactures we represent.

Our skilled instructors will make learning to fly a Powered Paraglider a truly comfortable and enjoyable experience. Take your time and ease your way into the sport with a beginning lesson and see for yourself the joys of Powered Paragliding.

PPG course will guide the student from terminology of the equipment through the student's first solo flight. Basic PPG course usually is completed in 7-8 days, weather and student skills permitted.

The first 1-2 days the student will learn terminology and maintenance of the complete gear, basic meteorology (weather to fly) , aviation regulations, inflation techniques (forward and reverse inflation) with a backpack engine, foot launch techniques on a simulator and ground school on flight patterns and landing procedures.

The third day will serve as the student's dream day, your first solo flight!.

Powered Paragliding lessons to get you flying safely by yourself -
  • The money for this lesson can be applied to the purchase of your own Powered Paraglider. (full package between $4,000 - $6,000)
  • This package will get you up in the air with confidence in your newly developed flying skills
Train in a unit that you purchased elsewhere -
  • If you have already purchased a Powered Paraglider, we can train you to the point of being soloed in your new gear.

Equipment and Money

All lesson plans include use of all equipment required, are upgradeable so you can take a taste before you decide if you want it all. Student and group discounts are available.

What are our credentials?
Certified and Experienced Staff
Each instructor has undergone extensive training and is certified by the United States Hang Gliding Association. Our instructors have been flying for more than 10 years on average.
What do I wear?

It is always a good ideal to come prepared for cooler temperatures up in the air. It is advisable to bring these items when you come out:
- Sweatshirt
- Pants
- Sneakers (without an open face)
- Gloves

Give us a call.  We're close to Chicago  and less than an hour from most of the Western suburbs. Click on "Contact Us" for complete directions.  You don't have to wait for the weekend and drive 2-3 hours out of state to take your lessons.

Come on out week nights after a long day at work and enjoy some country hospitality. There are several excellent restaurants on the way to HGC in Kankakee, Bradley, Bourbonnais, Chebanse, and Clifton, IL.

If you have more time, spend the night in one of several camping sites nearby or on the field.
