A note from Arlan.. The temperatures
are running in the eighties so I was dressed in sandals, shorts
and a T-shirt. Johnny took me on a tour of the area in the Aircam,
an oversize ultralight. The mountains are within a couple miles
from the runway so we can easily tow someone to them or they can
soar near the runway. We can also tow you over the ocean which is
only a mile from the runway. On day 2, in the afternoon I spent
surfing.
Johnny Benson (of Hangglide Costa
Rica) has a first class program for visiting pilots giving unlimited
flying either in tows or mountain launches at one of the four nearby
launch sites. The program includes 7 days and 6 nights at a local
motel, breakfast, lunch, ride to and from the airport, surf lessons
with many extras for $1299.
Non flying guests tagging along will
pay only for meals!
Or if they want to learn, they can
spend another $1200 for 14 tandems to learn to hang glide.
Jaco has a lot of open air stores,
shops, restaurants and bars with a wide variety of night life within
walking distance of the motel. The days have been sunny with lots
of cumulus. The beaches have 3-4 foot waves that make them excellent
to learn to surf. I got to go now. Johnny is taking me out to sushi
where some lovely ladies that we were surfing with work.
good flying and hope to see some
of you down here.
